tweetkids cookshop: ugly and…

uglybut

gooey!

A very simple recipe today for healthy breakfast biscuits. Naturally sweet and filling this recipe has just two main ingredients: quick cooking porridge oats and bananas.

Just mix 3/4 cups of oats with a mashed banana until you get a soft, gooey, but slightly firm texture. It mustn’t be too sticky! The children enjoyed moulding the shapes but however hard they tried, these biscuits remain blob-like and ugly.

We added some dried fruit and nuts to give the gooey biscuits more umph: apricots, prunes and almonds. Next, line and butter an ovenproof tray. Then carefully place each ugly and gooey biscuit on the tray and place in the oven for about 10-15 minutes at 175c. When they are ready, they’ll be a little crispy on the outside, but still gooey inside.

After all the messy goo, and very sticky fingers we made some special Easter tags for the packaging of our ugliest gifts yet!

Great fun in the kitchen today with Lorenzo, Gabriele, Arianna, Giulia, Erica, Viola and Sara.
