Chalk pastel blending and colour interactions
Second year middle schoolers began the year with some colourful investigations using chalk pastels. We started with colour charts, mixing and blending soft pastels to create secondary and tertiary colour variants. Here below you can see our colour palettes and further work based on modern artists and abstract expressionism: Paul Klee, Josef Albers and Mark Rothko.

The students needed a steady hand and patient blending to achieve their own desired, but experimental, results.
